Restoring a backup

Backup Locations

The backup will be stored on the hard drive of the computer that runs MSDE or SQL Server.

You will need to move the backup to a secure location. This could be to:

  • A network location which already forms part of an backup plan; or
  • An external device such as Tape drive / CD or DVD / etc

If you have installed MSDE from the Sage Taxation CD, the backup location will be:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SAGETAX\Backup

If you are using Microsoft SQL Server, the backup location will be:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Backup\

Each backup is named based upon the time that the backup was started.
