Client List pop-up menu

Options for organising the Client List are available by selecting the View option from the Main Menu bar, or by clicking the menu mouse button on a client in the list to access the Client List pop-up menu. The menu has the following options:

Main details - Opens the Main Details form for the selected client.

Trim - Trims the Client List according to what it is currently sorted by e.g. if the list is sorted by Daytime Phone selecting Trim will display only those clients who have a relevant phone number. A tick in the pop-up menu indicates that Trim is turned on.

Resize Client List - Resizes the Client List to the exact width of the currently selected columns so that they are all displayed and so that there is no 'white space' at the right-hand side of the list.

Sort Clients By - Sorts the Client List by one of the criteria from the pop-up list. This affects the way in which you can search for a client in the Client List using the Find option. The currently selected option is indicated by a small, black circle. You can also choose by what criteria the list is sorted by using the column buttons at the top of the list.

Add/Remove Column - Adds or removes a column of information to or from the Client List.

All of these details are entered and found on the client's Main Details form. The selected options are indicated in the pop-up list by a tick. The name of the option is displayed at the top of the column in the Client List as a button. You can click on the buttons to do the following things:

  • Sort the Client List

Click on a column button to sort the Client List by that option e.g. by the clients' Report Names. A small triangle appears to indicate which button is selected. The direction of the triangle indicates if the Client List is being sorted in ascending or descending order. If the triangle points upwards the list is in ascending order (A-Z, 0-9). If it points downwards the list is in descending order (Z-A, 9-0).

  • Change the Find____ option

Determine the way in which you can search the Client List by selecting a column button e.g. the Find____ option changes to Find Fax if you click on the Daytime Fax column button. Obviously you can only change the Find____ option in this way if the relevant column is displayed in the Client List.

You can also change the Find____ option by picking a criteria from the Sort Clients by Client List pop-up menu option.

  • Change the order in which the columns are displayed

Click and hold down the select mouse button on the button for the column that you want to move. Drag the mouse to the required location and release the select mouse button. The columns will now change their order.

  • Change the size of the columns

Position the mouse cursor above either the left or right-hand edge of the button for the column that you want to resize. The cursor should change to two vertical lines with two horizontal arrows, which indicates that you can resize the column. Hold down the select mouse button. A dotted, vertical line appears; this shows you where the column will be resized to. Still holding down the mouse button, move the line to a new position. The column will be resized according to the position that you selected.

 

New client - Creates a new client. The Add New Client Wizard guides you through this process. You can also press Ctrl+N to do this.

Delete client - Deletes the client that is currently highlighted in the Client List. You must enter the Administrator password to continue with the deletion of the client. The Delete Client window appears when you have entered it. You can also press the Ctrl + Delete keys to do this.
