Set up your system for check printing
To make printing easier, we recommend you perform the following steps before setting up check printing:
- Install the latest version of Adobe Reader.
- Install the latest version of Google Chrome and use it as your browser.
- Verify that your browser's Zoom setting is set to 100% (so that text and images appear at their default size, not smaller or larger). In Google Chrome, this setting appears on the browser menu.
- Open a PDF document in your browser, click Print, and in the print dialog box, verify that your system does not add margins or use a "fit to page" setting. In the Google Chrome print dialog box:
- Verify that the Fit to page check box is not selected.
- Click More settings, and on the Margins list, verify that Default is selected.
Enter Check Printing Settings
Check printing is enabled by default.
To set up check printing:
- Go to Settings, Check Printing.
- Verify that the Enable Check Printing check box is selected. If you do not print checks, you can clear this option.
- Verify that Sage Check Paper is selected. (Other check templates will be included in future releases.)
- Click Save.
Print and align a test check
After you set up check printing, print a test check with sample data to ensure that check stock will be aligned correctly in your printer.
When printing your first test check, use regular Letter size paper. A measurement grid prints that you can use to align check information before printing on check stock.
To print and align a test check:
- Set up check printing as described in the previous section.
- On the Check Printing Settings page, click Print Setup.
- On the Check Printing Setup dialog box, click Print Test Check 1 to print a test check with a measurement grid that you can use to align check information.
- Place the printed test check on top of a sheet of check stock and hold them up to a light source to see if the printed numbers line up with the check stock.
- If the printed numbers line up with the check stock:
- Select Yes - the numbers are in the right place.
- Click Continue.
- Click All Done!
- If the printed numbers do not line up with the check stock:
- Select No - I need to adjust where the numbers are printed.
- Click Continue.
- Count the number of grid squares the printed numbers need to move up, down, left, or right, and enter your adjustments in the dialog box that appears.
- Click Continue.
- Click Print Test Check again, and then repeat this entire step until the printed numbers line up with the check stock.
- Click Continue.
- Click All Done!
- If the printed numbers line up with the check stock:
Your check alignment settings are saved and you are ready to print checks.
