Validate the Figures on a Return

Personal Tax validates the SA100 Tax Return according to the rules laid down for submission by Filing By Internet Returns by HM Revenue & Customs. A Return must pass these Validations before it can be submitted via the Internet. It is also recommended that you ensure that Returns submitted by paper have passed the validation to reduce the chances of the Return being rejected.

Validations are performed whenever he figures are recalculated:

  • When you open the Current Working Figures
  • When you generate a Final Return
  • When you open the Submissions page in Current Working Figures

You can recalculate the figures at anytime.

You can manually validate the Return from the Tax Return Viewer by clicking the Validate button. If Personal Tax detects that the Return has passed all validations previously and no changes have been made to the Return since the last time it was validated, this button will be disabled.

Validation Errors

If errors are found when a validation is performed, they are displayed at the bottom of the Computationswindow or Tax Return Viewer, depending on where the validation was run.

Double-clicking the error message will display the offending section of the Return in the Tax Return Viewer.

You should correct the information in the appropriate data entry page then generate a new Final Return. You should not correct the error by manually editing the Return. If you do this, the Current Working Figures and all copies generated from them will still contain errors.

Note: The Return must pass ALL validations with no errors before it can be filed by Internet.
