When can I section update?

The data entry page that you want to section update must be highlighted in the Annual Data Navigator before you can open the Section Update window. Section update is available for specific data entry forms in the Navigator e.g. the Banks/Building societies folder cannot be updated but each of the individual forms included in the folder can be. Also you cannot perform a section update until at least one year update has been performed and therefore two tax years exist for the client.

The Employments and Self-employments items are slightly different to the rest of the data entry forms in that only the folder as a whole can be updated. You cannot section update the forms contained within these folders on an individual basis. For example, if a client has an Employment and is claiming Car and Fuel Benefit, the Car and Fuel Benefit form cannot be updated by itself. The whole of the Employment folder which that form is part of has to be updated to update the car item.
