Enter your staging date

The Pensions Regulator (TPR) is the public body set up by the government to regulate workplace pensions. They write to all employers to let you know when your duties start, this is your staging date.

If you’re starting a new company and are unsure about your staging date, you can check it on The Pensions Regulator (TPR) website.

Before entering your date

  • If you're postponing automatic enrolment, you should still enter the staging date assigned to you by TPR when ready.

  • The staging date can only be amended if no pay runs have been processed for that period.

  • For cyclical re-enrolment, there is no need to change your staging date.

To enter your staging date:

  1. Click the Summary tab.
  2. Within the Auto Enrolment / Pensions section, enter the Staging Date you received from TPR.
  3. Click Set Staging Date.

After entering your date

The Summary tab shows a countdown until you stage. If you need to edit your staging date, return to the Summary screen and click Amend Staging Date.

You won't be able to process a pay run until you set up a pension scheme. When you reach the staging date, you will see options to either Postpone Auto Enrolment or Amend Staging Date on the Summary screen. You must choose one of these options and then follow the steps carefully.

Be sure that whichever option you choose is right before processing a pay run, as you won't be able to change it later.
