Add a partner to a partnership

  1. Open the partnership's main details by clicking Details on the toolbar.
  2. Click the Main Details tab. A list of partners currently in the partnership is shown.
  3. Click Add. The Client Lookup window appears.
    1. If you want to add one of the listed clients as a partner, select them from the list then click Select.
    2. If you want to create a client, click New. This opens the Add New Client Wizard.

      Complete the wizard to create the client, following the on-screen instructions.

      When the wizard completes, select the new client from the list the click Select.

  4. The client you've just selected appears in the client grid on the Main Details tab.
  5. You can enter the date on which the client became a partner (or the date they ceased to be a partner). These dates will determine whether the partner should appear on a return for a specified tax year.
  6. Click OK to save the changes to the partnership.

Sage Practice Solution

Sage Practice Solution customers using client integration will see that:

  • adding a new client as a partner to the partnership in Partnership Tax will automatically create that partner as a contact in Sage Practice Solution and add the relationship between the partner and the partnership.
  • linking an existing client as a partner to a partnership in Partnership Tax will automatically create the relationship between the partner and the partnership in Sage Practice Solution.
