Display a Report in More Than One Column
If your report displays only a small number of types of information for each client, you may wish to display the report in two or three columns. If, for example, your report displayed only the report name and client code for each client, it would be worth printing the list of clients in two columns to save space.
- Click the
button on the main frame toolbar to open the Report Generator. Select the report that you want to modify from the list then select the Modify option. Select the OK button.
- Design the report so that the entire width of the detail and column header bands occupies the first half of the report page for two columns or the first third for three. You only need to design one column. This will automatically be repeated in the other columns in the final report.
- Select Report Options from the View menu. The Report Page Setup window opens.
- Select the Frame & Column page.
- In the Columns section, use the No. of columns spin-edit box to indicate the number of columns in which you wish to display the report. Use the Column space spin-edit box to indicate the space that should appear between each column.
- Select the OK button to close the Report Page Setup window. In the Report Designer dotted, blue lines show the position of the columns. The detail and column header bands will be resized to the width of the first column.
Tips
- To get help on any of the windows in the Report Generator, press the F1key.
- You can also open the Report Page Setup window by clicking the menu mouse button on there report design, outside any report elements. Select Report Options from the pop-up menu.
- You cannot overwrite any of the pre-designed reports once you have modified them. You can save the modified report under a new name.
- Any elements which are obscured when the detail and column header bands are resized will still be displayed where there is space to do so at the end of a report. Make sure that all the elements in these to bands are inside the first half or third etc of the page before you add the columns.
