Shortcut keys and tabbed movement

You can navigate through the windows and pages of Control Centre by using the keyboard instead of the mouse.

Key Combination

Description

tab

Moves focus to the next item on a window.

shift+tab

Moves focus to the previous item on a window.

escape

Cancels any changes that you make and closes the window. Equivalent to clicking Cancel.

F4

Displays the contents of a drop-down list.

F5

Refresh view

F10

Accesses the main menu options. Use the cursor keys to move through them.

Control+alt+tab

Moves through the pages in a form.

Control+Page up or Page down

Moves through the pages in a form.

Shift+Control+Tab

Moves back through the pages of a form and highlights the current page.

Control+tab

Switches between open windows.

Control+F6

Switches between open windows.

Control+O

Open dataset

Control+N

Create new dataset

Control+Delete

Delete client

Control+Enter

Open the relevant tax system for the selected client.

Control+1

Open the client navigator if it has been previously closed.

Control+T

Open tasks window

Control+Z

Undo

To move quickly to an item on a window, use its accelerator key. Accelerator keys are key combinations that are formed from pressing the ALT key and another key. This other key is the underlined character in the label for the box or item you want to navigate to.

When there is more than one box on a window with the same underline character, press ALT + (underlined character) repeatedly until the box you want has focus.
