Summary

Learn how to reset your Sage Accounting company data to its original state with no data.

Resolution

The Reset Data option removes all information entered into Accounting. This allows you to clear practice data entered during a free trial period while keeping your user, business, and billing information.

When to use the reset data option

  • You entered dummy or practice information during a trial period and now want to enter real company information
  • You made errors when entering accounting information and want to start again

Who can reset data

Only the business owner can reset or restore data. The business owner is the person who originally signed up and has access to all areas of the service.

Before you start

  1. Print any reports or note any information you need, such as customer and supplier details, and transaction details.
  2. Disconnect any bank feeds. You’ll need to reconnect after you reset your data. If you have set up bank rules, export them first and then import them again after resetting your data.

Reset your data

  1. Go to Settings, Business Settings, and then Data Management.
  2. Click Reset my Data.
  3. Enter the email address you use to sign in to your Sage service. Click Reset Data.

Restore your data

You can restore your data if you reset it in error or need to check information before resetting again. Restoring data returns you to the point immediately before you choose the Reset Data option.

  1. Go to Settings, then Business Settings, then Data Management.
  2. Select Restore my Data.
  3. Enter the email address you use to sign in, then select Restore Data.

No option to restore data

  • You can’t restore data from another Sage service such as Sage 50
  • You can’t restore data if you changed your subscription or plan
    • For example, you can’t restore data created in Accounting into Accounting Start
  • Although you can’t restore from a previous service, you can still reset your new service and start again
